A Girl Like Her by Talia HibbertMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is my second read by Talia Hibbert, and while nothing can top Get a Life, Chloe Brown for me right now, This is a close second.
Premise: Ruth Kabbah is one of “those Kabbah girls” in small town Ravenswood, a much-gossiped-about pariah, living with autism, and working from home as a comic story writer. Enter next-door neighbor Evan, a welder and recently returned military man. He’s new to town, and newly employed at the town’s biggest employer, a company owned by the Burns family, a family with extra snobbiness and secretive lives.
The characters, the story, the writing:
I loved them all. I’m not commenting too much here, because each scene is a reveal to the reader, so it’s like a romance with a mystery unfolding underneath. The characters are memorable and well-developed. The story is engaging and entertaining, and the writing is well-done. Hibbert didn’t have to make leaps and bounds of changes to write Get a Life, Chloe Brown, she’s been writing these wonderful stories for a while now.
Overall:
I love everything about this entertaining book, and I can’t wait to get the next one!
